What is Aether Yoga? A story
Firstly, let me introduce myself
I'm Charlotte, the person behind Aether Yoga and your guide for all of our classes and retreats ππ«. I created this community to bring people together in beautiful locations across the North to practise all limbs of yoga and enjoy a fancy lunch - all for a decent price. Itβs been a challenge but weβre here and blooming <3.
My journey with yoga started as a child - I collected books on asana and Buddhist philosophy from quirky aunts and walked around in wheel pose like The Grudge. I took different yoga classes and experimented with many forms of meditation (it got weird) until, in 2023, I decided to go to Nepal for my Yoga Teacher Training.
I needed something just for me. Life has kept me stuck in my head a lot of the time: writing essays sat in bed and hunched over screens in desk jobs. It meant lone travelling, meeting a group of strangers, an intense physical experience (who knew anyone could sweat that much? Why were people sitting on me?). I needed to breathe, stretch, and connect back to my body.
I still have the desk job, I still canβt do every asana, but I do have a little bit of peace in my head that I can retreat to and I want to share that with people.
What's in a name?
That sense of connection is what inspired the name. In Greek philosophy, βaether' was the celestial glue connecting everything. It's the invisible threads that tie us to the cosmos and each other.
Like the celestial 'aether,' we embrace a philosophy that brings us together to create balance and peace in our everyday lives.
Here's to finding your cosmic threads on the mat and beyond. πβ¨
